Stocking Up On Supplies You can find commercial moving supplies almost anywhere, from your local drugstores and supermarkets to moving storage buildings and truck rental places. Make sure to stock up on packing tape, boxes, box-cutters, labels, packing peanuts, and bubble wrap. Oftentimes, you can sell back any extra boxes or items you have left over. Preparing Pots and Pans for Moving Although pots and pans vary in size, you can usually nest about three of each together in a single carton. Make sure you have large enough pieces of packing paper to cover the entire interior of your largest pan and leave some cushioning on the bottom of the crate. The first pot or pan you place inside the box should be the smallest in size. The pan or pot should be upside down with several sheets of packing paper on top of it before you stack the next one. Once you've stacked three, fill the spaces with packing material to prevent shifting. Tipping Your Movers Movers have it rough. Sure, it's a part of their job description when they're lugging your sofa into the truck, but that doesn't make their job any less difficult. Most people don't know that it's common courtesy to tip their movers, especially since you'll have to pay a substantial sum for the move, but it doesn't have to be some extravagant sum. It's recommended that you don't tip any less than twenty dollars to your movers if they've performed their job well.
