Weigh Down the Washer Machine If you’re planning on moving your washer machine, you can weigh down the appliance to keep it from moving around by filling it with blankets, pillows, hand towels, and other similar items. The first pot or pan you place inside the box should be the smallest in size. The pan or pot should be upside down with several sheets of packing paper on top of it before you stack the next one. Once you've stacked three, fill the spaces with packing material to prevent shifting.
