Packing Your Table Lamps When packing your table lamp, make sure you have an adequately sized box to accommodate it. If you can't find a carton that fits the size of your lamp, a dishpack carton will work as a substitute. Make sure you line the bottom of the box you're using with enough cushioning. So before you start packing your table lamp, remove the bulb and the lampshade. Wrap the lamp's cord around the base. Avoid using packing tape as it may strip the paint or outer coating of your lamp. Afterwards, cover the lamp in bubble wrap and fold over the edges on the top and bottom before you tape. Put the lamp in the box and fill any spaces with extra bubble wrap to prevent shifting during transit. Removing Your Bicycle's Chains It's recommended that you disassemble your bicycle into its individual parts before moving. The process of removing your bike's cables is simple. You'll want to take the cables out of the bike's stops. In order to slacken the brake cables, undo the releases on the arms or at the levers depending on what kind of bicycle you have. You can slacken the shifting cables by putting chain in the big cog combo before shifting down. Once all of the cables have been removed, you can disassemble the rest of the bike. When Moving Your Piano When preparing to move your piano, there are a few things you should keep in mind before you start. First, you should know the approximate weight of your instrument. Baby grand pianos weigh around 500 to 800 pounds, and longer grand pianos can weigh up to 1200 pounds respectively. You should never rely on the piano's casters to move the piano as most are simply meant for decorative purposes. By forcing the casters to move across your floor, you risk jamming the casters, possibly tearing and gouging your carpet or floor. A 4-wheel piano dolly is absolutely essential. Number by Priority One way of prioritizing your items for the move is by assigning numbers from most important to least important. Mark a 1 on all of your boxes that contain items you need immediately or on a regular basis. You should mark a 2 on boxes that have items you won't be using right away, but possibly within a month or so such as books and movies.
